We reached Khadera village spersed with humble cow-dung laden homes and verandahs … we halted here for a tree shade meeting; interacting with the people of kusubaha community and singing Jai Jagat with them was very enlivening. On meeting the women, we got glimpses on their way of living- they earn by farming ( they grow wheat, chana, green peas and use both cowdung compost and IPL and other commercial fertilizers) and cattle rearing, they welcome people by applying altan (henna extract from henna leaves these days we see colour being used) which symbolises marriage. It was very nice to see the girls of the village ask questions to know more about the yatra and yatris. Meeting Basanti was special; She said, ” We wish to learn more we have a government school only till grade 8.”
